Greendays Group Gives Free Websites to Local Non-Profits.

Greendays Group has a tradition of providing free websites to Non-Profit organizations.  It is just one way we like to give back to the local communities we serve.

We are expanding this program and now giving our customers the chance to do the same thing:

For every new website purchased from Greendays Group, we will donate our basic hosting services free of charge to a local non-profit of our customer’s choice.

If the non-profit doesn’t yet have a domain, we’ll register one for them FREE of charge.

The non-profit can be your favorite local charity or community outreach program.*

In addition, we will offer the following key services to those non-profits at 20% off our regular rates:

Now, not only can you create a new web presence for yourself, you can also give back to your community in the process.

* All non-profits are subject to review and approval and must be registered as a non-profit entity with the IRS.

Greendays Group proudly supports local non profits with free websites.

Buy One – Give One FREE FAQ:

Q:  Why give away a FREE website?

A.  Non-profits are all suffering from lower donations.  Running a website is often something they want to do but can’t afford to do.  We think everyone can use a helping hand.  A website for a non-profit is an effective way for them to better communicate with the people they serve while also enhancing their fundraising capabilities via resources such as Paypal’s donate feature.

Q:  How can you afford to give away hosting for FREE?

A:  It is a choice.  While a decision like this eats into potential profits, we believe long term that by giving back to the communities we serve, our customer base will actually grow over time.  This is very much an investment.  In addition, our employees volunteer time, and no sales commissions are collected on any additional services used by the qualifying non-profit organization.

Q:  Is the FREE hosting limited?

A:  No.  Non-profits will have access to our core hosting solution which usually retails for $345 per year.

Q:  Are there any hidden fees?

A:  No.  There are no transaction fees or hidden charges.  We include FREE hosting with a FREE domain and a FREE Email account.  The qualifying non-profit can then add the optional additional services outlined above with a 20% discount on those services.

Q:  Is there a minimum purchase?

A:  No.  Any web hosting solution qualifies for this program.

Q.  What if the non-profit already has a website?

A:  You can sponsor the conversion of their site design to our platform and then the hosting will be FREE.  Or, perhaps they would simply benefit from our 20% discount on our other services such as Email or our Email Marketing System.

Q.  What if I don’t have a non-profit that I want to specifically donate a site to?

A:  We are actively compiling a list of non-profits that would like a site.  If you don’t know of a non-profit that could benefit from a site, we will match you to one.

Sample non-profits that have received FREE sites:

Grace Episcopal Church Town of Whitefield, New Hampshire

How to verify a Non-Profit’s tax exempt status:

A very quick and easy way to make sure a non-profit qualifies for the Buy One Give One Free program is to visit the Publication 78 page of the IRS and search for the non-profit in question.

You may also search the IRS Master Files.  Navigate to the Charitable Statistics page at the IRS and click on the link for the Exempt Organizations IRS Master File Data. This will take you to a page where you can download the master file of listed non-profits for your state.

Another option is to use the GuideStar non-profit verification tool.  GuideStar also offers additional information (for a fee) that can include side-by-side organizational comparisons.

Using the three tools above provides the most clarity on a non-profit’s status.  These are also great resources to use if you do not yet have a non-profit in mind and are looking for one to sponsor.

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE BUY ONE GIVE ONE PROGRAM, A NON-PROFIT MUST BE LISTED IN ONE OF THESE RESOURCES.

Special rules for churches:

If you are a church you are generally not required to file for non-profit status with the IRS.  However, churches are classified quite differently than “religious organizations” which are typically labeled “ministries” which are in fact required to register.

The value of a church registering with the IRS is that it provides absolute clarity that the church’s tax-exempt status is intact.  While not required to do so, many churches do file with the IRS to provide possible donors with piece of mind that their donations will receive favorable tax treatment.

Furthermore, many churches are registered indirectly through a “Group Exemption” which is issued to /through a central /parent organization.  If a church has a parent organization with a group ruling, the IRS generally recognizes that church as tax exempt.

It is important to note that churches that organize separate charitable entities must have those separate entities registered by the IRS in order for them to receive the tax-exempt status.  The IRS provides all of these details and specific case examples in the Tax Guide for Churches and Religious Organizations.

If you represent an unregistered church that isn’t part of a “Group Exemption” via a central /parent organization and wish to participate in our Buy One Give One program, you must certify in writing that you meet the following conditions as laid out by the IRS:

  • Your entity is a church and NOT a “religious organization” as defined by the IRS.
  • The organization must be organized and operated exclusively for religious, educational, scientific, or other charitable purposes,
  • Net earnings may not inure to the benefit of any private individual or shareholder,
  • No substantial part of its activity may be attempting to influence legislation,
  • The organization may not intervene in political campaigns, and
  • The organization’s purposes and activities may not be illegal or violate fundamental public policy.

To participate in our Buy One Give One charitable website donation program, an unregistered church that isn’t part of a “Group Exemption” must certify their status using the following online form:
